All of us at the pantry would like to send a warm thank you to everyone who has made donations of food, cash, gift certificates and time and effort as volunteers! The Tewksbury Community Pantry is very fortunate to have so many out there helping to keep the pantry running. If not for the amazing efforts of so many we would not be able to provide the food we do to those in need in Tewksbury. We are truly blessed to have so many local organizations and business help through their fundraising efforts and amazing generosity. In addition to so many citizens from in and around Tewksbury giving cash donations, we are so grateful for all the food drives from schools, churches, businesses, organizations and families. Please know that we make every effort to thank each and every one of you for your cash and food donations. If you haven’t received a thank you, perhaps because there was no mailing address or something got lost in the mail, we apologize and take this time to personally thank you and want you to know without all of you, we would not be able to provide the food we do for those in need!

To All Potential Volunteer Groups:

The Pantry is able to continue its operations because of the dedication and hard work of its volunteers. Volunteers sort and check food for expiration dates, fill boxes, bag canned goods and do many other duties that keep the pantry running. We have received numerous calls from groups who want to help during these hard times but because of the pandemic and social distancing mandates, we are unable to have groups inside of our building. We hope to resume our group volunteering sometime in 2021. We will continue to need individual volunteers to help us on distribution days when we are short handed.

We welcome volunteer groups to conduct their own creative activities or food drives to support the pantry independent of the pantry. We can arrange drop off times as needed by calling or emailing.

At all times, our volunteers provide confidential assistance to everyone who receives food and client information is never given out. We strive to maintain anonymity of clients and preserve the dignity of all those who come to the pantry. Please call the Pantry at (978) 858-2273 or send an e-mail to volunteer@tewksburypantry.org to inquire about individual volunteering.

We are grateful for the many ways organizations have found ways to assist in these unusual times and hope all continue to remain safe.

Our community of Tewksbury has been so blessed by so many who have ran food drives this year to date especially while overcoming the challenges of the current Covid19 Virus Pandemic. There are so many families and individuals who have lost their jobs and source of income during these trying times and we strive to be able to keep our pantry running to help those in need. We are here for you now and always!! We especially want to thank all those who have helped us!!

The 2020 Tewksbury Community Pantry's Annual Golf Tournament Cancelled

After 20 consecutive years of hosting our annual golf tournament fundraiser, we made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event due to the impact of the pandemic. We are making this decision because it seems unfair to ask for the usual business support while many businesses are struggling, out of concern for social distancing requirements on the course for a group that generally is in a high risk category, and our inability to celebrate together in a large group setting. We want to thank all for their historical support and we hope to be back on the course with you in August 2021.

In these challenging times, we ask that you keep the pantry in mind in coming months as the golf event is our single largest annual fundraiser, and other fundraising events have been postponed or cancelled, further impacting typical donation patterns. Despite these changes, the pantry continues to distribute nearly $250,000 annually in food support to Tewksbury residents. Tewksbury has always been there to support those less fortunate in our town, and we know these difficult times will be no different.

Stay safe,

Todd Johnson
Chair of Golf Committee

Dear Tewksbury Community:

These are uncertain times. The Coronavirus pandemic has markedly changed all of our lives and disrupted our regular routines in a big way. Social isolation has forced us to avoid interaction with many. However, that isolation has apparently not caused people in Tewksbury to lose sight of the greater good.

History has shown repeatedly that in times of great difficulty, there are often people who rise to the occasion. This pandemic is proving to be no different. The news nationally and locally has reported multiple stories of people going out of their way to assist others in unique and heartfelt ways. Tewksbury is no different. The Tewksbury Community Pantry has been the beneficiary of many examples of that generosity and concern over the last few weeks. Our community has demonstrated its certain and firm commitment to those less fortunate among us through multiple group and individual efforts to raise food or monetary donations directed to the community pantry. There are too many examples to cite here, and we do not want to exclude anyone, so please know that we are extremely grateful for all the support that has been provided to us.

We also are keenly aware that many food banks throughout the region are experiencing increased demand from the economic fallout of this pandemic. Be assured that we are committed to providing needed support to all Tewksbury residents in need and want to thank the entire community for its partnership in helping us achieve that goal. Despite all the uncertainty surrounding us, we remain certain that Tewksbury will once again help us to meet this obligation.

Stay safe and healthy,

The Board of Directors
Tewksbury Community Pantry, Inc.

Dear Friends:

It is hard to know how many people will need us at the Tewksbury Community Pantry during and after this unprecident virus outbreak but in anticipation if you would like to donate non-perishable goods to our pantry you can bring them to the pantry building and place them in the food bins we provide. Please remember to social distance and if anyone is putting items in the bins, please wait in your car until they are back in their car before proceeding to the bins. If you would like to help monetarily, you can click on the link below and donate on line or mail a check. Anything large or small is equally appreciated.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out to us in so many ways. We could not be here without you!

Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive Postponed

The 28th annual Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive, scheduled for May 9, 2020, has been postponed. The NALC, as well as our national partners, are fully committed to rescheduling the food drive later in 2020. A new date has not yet been scheduled.

The annual success of the food drive is largely due to the efforts of letter carriers, other postal employees, postal customers, community volunteers and many more. Their safety is of paramount importance. Much of the United States is currently under shelter in place or similar advisories due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and public health authorities such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have issued guidelines that include social distancing. While it is unknown how long these guidelines will remain in place, it is highly unlikely that those involved in the food drive will be able to safely participate just six weeks from now.

NALC and our national partners recognize that food assistance is a critical need for many during this difficult time, and we remain committed to helping those in need in the communities we serve across America. We look forward to once again holding the largest one-day food drive in America when it is safe to do so.

Dear Volunteers:

The Board of Directors of the Tewksbury Community Pantry would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your hard work as a pantry volunteer. The Pantry has always been able to meet the needs of the increasing numbers of Tewksbury residents who require food assistance only because you give so generously of your time and effort.

Our annual meeting of the Tewksbury Community Pantry was held on Wednesday, March 4th, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. at the Tewksbury Pantry, 999 Whipple Road, Tewksbury, MA.

Our board president conducted the annual meeting and welcome all visitors and current board members.
